Update: What AIWItness News is Hearing at NatCon Day 3
“Advanced Concepts in AI Ethics & Data Security”
More hot takes coming in on the heels of Eleos’ last session ayt #NatCon25. Once again, a packed house and excited crowd for speakers (and behavioral health celebs) Tom Morgan, CIO of Merakey and Rony Gadiwalla, CIO of GRAND Mental Health.
- Involve your teams, and maybe think about a committee when implementing AI.
- Don’t breach the trust you have with your clients: transparency is key.
- Always keep a human in the loop.
- Start with the problem and an understanding of your workflows and use cases: AI can’t solve everything.
- AI’s promise is putting the eyes back on the client. EHRs took those eyes away. AI puts the focus back on the client.
Eleos Spring Launch Dazzles at NatCon25
New Documentation experience gets rave reviews
Buzz is building at NatCon25 as Eleos unveils game-changing enhancements to the most-loved AI platform in the industry. Shaped by feedback from over 150 organizations, this reimagined version of Eleos Documentation unlocks even more flexibility, reliability, and convenience for providers.
Backed by the latest advancements in multimodal large language models (MM-LLMs), the new Eleos Documentation experience offers seamless audio capture for live sessions in multiple languages, supports the narrative portion of all 1:1 note types (including psychiatry, intake, and assessments), and provides offline access via mobile.
The ROI of AI in 2025
With federal and state healthcare funding on shaky ground, organizations are turning to AI to help them do more with less. Platforms like Eleos promote financial sustainability through reduced staff turnover, improved compliance, fewer no-shows, and streamlined documentation.
Update: What AIWItness News is Hearing at NatCon Day 1&2
“AI Governance Workshop: How to Create an Airtight Policy for Your Behavioral Health Org”
Eleos CEO Alon Joffe, Gulf Coast Center CEO Felicia Jeffery, and Clinica Health & Wellness CAO Dixie Casford are on stage tackling AI governance right now in room 108B!
Hot takes incoming…
- Start with your org values and match vendors accordingly
- Your CIOs will have questions. Vendors must have answers (A CISO doesn’t hurt.)
- Your staff might be scared. As Felicia says, “Do it anyway.”
- You have to have buy-in, and then you have to have guidance. And that’s what your policy is.
- Your staff will use AI wether you have a policy or not. A policy keeps you safe.
- People will generally do the right thing. The policy gives them ground rules and allows for exploration of what makes sense for your org.
- Regulations move too slow for your org to rely on them to be your policy.
- You want to have direct conversations with your vendor partners, otherwise it’s a game of telephone and the ending message doesn’t resemble the original.
- A human clinician always has to be in the loop. And nothing is a one-and-done.
- Doing more with less isn’t about increasing productivity. It’s about reducing stress.
- We use AI to automate the ordinary, so you can innovate the extraordinary.
“NatCon25 Federal Policy Update: Working With the New Administration and Congress Session Highlight”
The current administration and Congress are prioritizing cost‑cutting and deregulation through potential large cuts to Medicaid, including work requirements and funding caps or expansion roll‑backs—while signaling plans to rescind health and industry regulations.
Funding uncertainty is certainly a hot topic at #NatCon25, and while it is certainly a stresser for behavioral health, it’s also an opportunity for advocacy.
Speakers urged attendees to build bipartisan coalitions, share data‑rich local stories with lawmakers, and leverage Congress’s control of the purse strings—arguing that sustained, united advocacy can slow extreme cuts and protect essential coverage and services.
More to come!
